Radiology is the Eye of Medicine

About RSP 2026

Forty-two years of Pakistani radiology, and the decade ahead.

Radiology is the Eye of Medicine

Radiology is the Eye of Medicine

The Radiological Society of Pakistan has convened its members every year since 1984. The annual conference is the society’s principal academic event and its only occasion where the whole discipline diagnostic, interventional, nuclear and technologist sits in one building.

The 42nd edition moves to Peshawar and to Rehman Medical Institute. It is the first time the meeting has been held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in a decade, and it is deliberate: the province carries an enormous imaging workload across a network of hospitals that rarely get to host national academic events.

The theme precision, intelligence, access names the three pressures on the specialty right now. Precision, because imaging is increasingly expected to stratify rather than merely describe. Intelligence, because algorithmic tools have arrived in the reading room whether or not departments were ready for them. And access, because none of it matters if the patient in Bannu waits eleven weeks for a contrast CT.

Everything in the three-day programme the workshops, the live reporting sessions, the free papers, the training panel was chosen against those three words.

01Objectives

What this conference is trying to do.

Raise the floor, not just the ceiling

Most imaging in Pakistan happens outside tertiary centres. The programme is deliberately weighted towards what a district or secondary hospital can actually do next month.

Give trainees a real platform

Free paper sessions, the poster walk and Case of the Year are judged by the faculty and dominated by registrars. Seniority is not a selection criterion.

Connect imaging to outcomes

Every symposium pairs a radiologist with the clinician who acts on the report the surgeon, the oncologist, the stroke physician.

Include the whole imaging team

Radiographers, sonographers and technologists have their own rate, their own workshops and their own session on Day 3.
